Entity

Ambient intelligence for real homes.

Entity is a local software layer that interprets presence, movement and spatial behavior inside real homes, then sends reliable decisions to the home automation system already installed.

Sensing detects. Entity interprets and decides. The installed automation system executes.

Home automation reacts. Real homes behave.

Most home automation systems react to simple inputs: motion, timers, buttons and binary states. But real homes are not binary. People enter, pause, sit, move across open spaces, return after a few seconds, or move between rooms during daily activities. That is where traditional automation often becomes nervous, inconsistent or too rigid.

False presence

Lights react to movement but miss the real context.

Nervous automation

Rooms switch too fast, too often, or at the wrong moment.

Rigid room logic

Complex spaces are treated as simple on/off zones.

Entity adds interpretation above the existing system.

Entity does not replace gateways, actuators, switches or the automation infrastructure already installed. It adds a local intelligence layer above them. It receives environmental data, evaluates context, handles uncertainty and sends authorized decisions through local IP integration to compatible home automation gateways.

The automation system executes. Entity decides when execution makes sense.

Local, modular, IP‑based.

Entity V0 is designed as a local controller running on dedicated hardware. It communicates through the local network with the automation system already present in the home.

No direct bus control. No direct load switching. No replacement of the existing automation system.

Beyond presence detection.

Entity is designed to reason about how people occupy space, not only whether motion exists.

Presence

Detects meaningful occupation, not just movement.

Transitions

Understands movement between zones and rooms.

Stability

Distinguishes passing through from staying.

Posture‑aware behavior

Supports different logic for standing, sitting or resting.

Open spaces

Avoids treating large connected areas as one simple binary room.

Uncertainty

When the situation is unclear, Entity behaves conservatively.

Conservative by design.

A smart home should not become unpredictable. Entity is designed to authorize automation only when the system has enough confidence. When sensing is degraded, the runtime is unhealthy or the execution channel is not reliable, Entity avoids unsafe automatic decisions.

Nominal

The system is healthy and decisions can be authorized.

Uncertain

The context is ambiguous. Entity avoids aggressive behavior.

Fail‑closed

The system blocks new automatic actions when a critical condition is missing.

Better no automation than wrong automation.

Built first for advanced residential environments.

Entity starts from real homes: villas, premium apartments, open spaces and advanced residential installations where comfort, reliability and natural behavior matter. The first goal is not to replace home automation. The first goal is to make existing automation more aware, more stable and closer to how people actually live.

Our story

Edoardo Stefanini is the founder and driving force behind ShineStroke. With more than fifteen years of experience designing and building electrical and automation systems across Italy – often with a focus on sustainability – he has seen first‑hand how technology in the home has evolved. Despite the proliferation of connected devices, he noticed that people still rely on the same basic controls that have been around for a century: wall switches and, more recently, voice assistants. To Edoardo, this meant residents were still “slaves” to interfaces rather than truly living in a smart environment.

In 2023 he founded ShineStroke with the ambition of revolutionising domestic living. Roughly a year later, his attention turned to the emerging Wi‑Fi 7 sensing technology. The idea that radio waves themselves could detect presence, movement and even posture sparked the realisation that his vision of a genuinely intelligent home was achievable. From that moment he began developing Entity – a software layer designed to abolish reliance on physical switches altogether. Edoardo’s conviction is that by 2026 homes should no longer depend on hardware conceived a hundred years ago. Rather than perpetuating a market that sells plates, buttons, supports and relays, he wants to free domestic spaces from outdated constraints. Entity is the first step toward a future where a house understands its occupants and responds autonomously, allowing people to live naturally without reaching for a switch.

Current status.

Entity is currently in active development as a local ambient intelligence software layer. The V0 architecture is focused on a local IP‑based controller that receives sensing data, interprets spatial behavior and communicates with the installed automation gateway.
